SURVEYS
The Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care conducts several surveys each year to measure how satisfied beneficiaries are with Medicaid programs and their prenatal and delivery care, and to assess how beneficiaries perceive their own health. Ratings questions, composites, health scales and question frequencies are used to measure satisfaction.
The ConnectCare, ARKids First A and B, and Non-Emergency Transportation surveys measure beneficiary satisfaction with these Medicaid programs. For ConnectCare and ARKids First A and B, we conduct CAHPS (Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) surveys, following HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) guidelines. CAHPS is scientifically designed to measure and report the experiences that form the basis of consumer satisfaction with health care. CAHPS was developed by Harvard Medical School, RAND and the Research Triangle Institute, and was funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
ConnectCare/ARKids First A
A biannual CAHPS satisfaction survey of Medicaid adult and child beneficiaries to evaluate satisfaction with health care services received through Arkansas’ Medicaid program.

ARKids First B
An annual CAHPS satisfaction survey of Medicaid SCHIP children conducted to determine which services ARKids First B beneficiaries use and their satisfaction with the ARKids First B program.

An annual satisfaction survey of TEFRA beneficiaries conducted to determine which services TEFRA beneficiaries use and how they evaluate the TEFRA program.

ARHealthNetworks
An annual satisfaction survey of ARHealthNetworks beneficiaries conducted to determine which services ARHealthNetworks beneficiaries use and how they evaluate the ARHealthNetworks program.

Non-Emergency Transportation
A biannual survey of eligible Medicaid recipients that use the non-emergency transportation program. This survey is similar to CAHPS, but the questions emphasize the satisfaction of beneficiaries with their transportation services.
The Prenatal Care Survey
A PRAMS-like survey that is conducted biannually. The Pregnancy
Risk Assessments Monitoring Systems (PRAMS) survey was launched
in 1987 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) because
of the rate of infant mortality and the rising numbers of
low birth weights. The participating health departments and
the CDC collect state-specific, population-based data on
maternal attitudes and experiences prior to, during and
immediately following pregnancy. AFMC's prenatal care survey addresses
prenatal care, delivery and post-delivery care, including well-baby
check-ups.

Arkansas’ Community Mental Health Centers and Clinics (CMHCs)
Conducted to evaluate adult and child/adolescent recipients’ satisfaction with services of Arkansas’ Community Mental Health Centers and Clinics (CMHCs), for the Department of Health and Human Services’ Divisions of Behavioral Services (DBHS) and Medical Services (Medicaid). The Health Status Profile Survey
A biannual survey that was adopted from FACCT (the Foundation for Accountability). The FACCT Measures Council collaborated with lead researchers and with the review and input of a wide array of purchasers and consumers. This survey assesses how Medicaid beneficiaries aged 18 to 62 perceive their overall health. Results of the 2008 Survey (pdf).
