Health Information Technology (HIT) Assistance

AFMC believes that technology is a vital part of the health care quality improvement process. Health care information technology (HIT) allows providers to improve patient care, reduce medication errors and increase efficiency. Clinics that use their EHR systems to improve the quality of patient care can also capitalize on pay-for-performance projects to generate extra income.

As a federally designated health care Quality Improvement Organization (QIO), AFMC offers a variety of services for clinics interested in adopting EHRs or maximizing the potential of an existing EHR system. Our experience in this area includes participating in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Doctor's Office Quality Information Technology (DOQ-IT) pilot program, during which we assisted more than 250 Arkansas physicians in the selection and implementation of electronic health record systems (EHRs).
AFMC provides consulting services to physician groups in Arkansas to facilitate the adoption of electronic health records. Our expert staff uses collaborative educational sessions and one-on-one assistance to ease the transition from paper-based health records to an EHR system. AFMC's Physician Office Team can provide help with and information about:

  • Evaluating the needs and capabilities of your practice
  • Choosing an EHR system
  • Implementation assistance
  • Workflow redesign
  • Practice readiness assessment
  • Using EHRs to maximize quality improvement efforts

AFMC's success comes from its ability to simplify the implementation process and minimize the challenges providers face in choosing the EHR system that best meets their clinic’s needs. AFMC’s staff has extensive training in EHRs, office redesign, clinical redesign and clinical information technology (IT), and more than 50 years cumulative clinical, professional and health information technology experience.
