A Division of AFMC
Medicaid Managed Care Services

Medicaid Managed Care Services is the division of AFMC that provides external quality review and other services for Arkansas Medicaid’s ConnectCare, ARKids First and waivered managed care programs. MMCS serves health care providers, the Arkansans they care for, and the state by helping to make the most of each health care dollar — and by offering resources and services that improve health and health care for all Arkansans.

MMCS provides utilization monitoring, quality improvement and reporting functions for the primary care physician programs in accordance with section 1154 of the Social Security Act. These functions were designed to:

  • Provide Medicaid management with vital utilization and performance data
  • Maintain open communication and professional relations with health care providers
  • Help assess program impact on health status, needs and access to the Medicaid program and related services
  • Continuously improve the quality of care provided to Arkansans under Medicaid and waivered managed care programs
